What Remuto knows about you, and what it doesn't.
Written from what the app actually does, field by field. If a sentence here can't be pointed at a piece of the product, it doesn't belong on this page.
Your account is a phone number or an email.
Remuto has no password. You sign in with a six-digit code texted to your phone or emailed to you; the code is never stored, only a salted fingerprint of it, for ten minutes. Your account holds the phone numbers and emails you have proved this way, and which listings are yours. Your listings, your photographs and your drafts live on your phone until you publish them.
You can delete your account in the app (You › Account › Delete account) or on remuto.app (You › Delete account). It signs you out everywhere and frees your number or email; the records the law requires (stays, payments, rent, deposits, occupancy tax) are kept.
Most of what the app holds never leaves the device at all, and the parts that do leave are the parts that have to: a page you asked to publish, a message you sent to somebody, a payment somebody made to you.
What leaves your phone, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, phone and email | When you publish a listing page, or when someone enquires | They are the contact details on the page. A renter has to be able to reach you |
| The property's address | When you publish | It is the listing |
| Where your phone was when you filmed | Only on short-term listings, only at the moment of capture | To check you were at the address. The page shows one sentence saying so, never a coordinate |
| Photographs, video and narration | When you publish, or ask for something to be made | To put them on the page, or to generate the video you asked for |
| Listing text, messages, applications, reviews | When you write them | They are for the person at the other end to read |
| Payment details | When a guest pays for a stay, or adds something to it | Handled by Stripe on their own page. Remuto never sees a card number |
| Identity documents | Only if you choose to verify | Handled by Stripe Identity on their own page. Remuto keeps a yes or no and a date |
| Income information | Only if you offer it with a rental application | Read by the vendor on their page. Remuto keeps the answer, never the statement |
| Tenant screening | When a landlord asks for it with a rental application | Run by Checkr on its own page. The applicant pays $40 through Remuto. Remuto keeps one word per check, never the report |
| Conversations with Remuto | When you message in the app, text the Remuto number, or call it | Saved, so a question can be answered, followed up and looked back on. See Conversations with Remuto |
Conversations with Remuto
What you say to Remuto is saved. That means messages in the app (to a host, a guest, the concierge or Ask Remuto), texts to and from the Remuto number, +1 (323) 973-2563, and calls with Ava, Remuto's phone assistant on that number.
- Calls with Ava are recorded and transcribed. ElevenLabs runs Ava, records the call and writes the transcript. Remuto keeps Ava's summary of the call and anything she passes on to a person.
- The concierge's answers come from Anthropic's API. When the concierge or Ask Remuto answers, the question goes to Anthropic, with the conversation it belongs to and the listing facts needed to answer it.
- Texts are carried by Twilio. Twilio delivers every text to and from the Remuto number. Ava, through ElevenLabs, answers many of them.
How Remuto uses conversations. We use conversations to improve Remuto's answers and service. We remove names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, door codes and payment details first, and we never sell them or use them for advertising.
How long they are kept. Messages, texts, call transcripts and recordings are kept for two years after the last message in a conversation, then deleted, unless the law requires a record to be kept longer. A deletion request covers them too: see below.
Who else sees it
Twelve companies, none of them an advertiser and none of them an analytics firm. Each receives only what its job needs.
- Railway hosts the Remuto server. Everything the app sends passes through it.
- Stripe handles money and identity. A guest's payment settles on the host's own Stripe account — Remuto never holds it. Stripe also runs the optional ID check.
- fal.ai runs the models that generate video, and receives the media and the instruction when you ask for one.
- Anthropic runs the model behind the concierge and Ask Remuto, and the one that writes captions and scripts when you ask. For an answer it receives the question, the conversation it belongs to and the listing facts needed to answer it. For a caption, the few words you typed, the tone you picked and the city. Never your contacts or your photographs.
- ElevenLabs runs Ava, Remuto's assistant on +1 (323) 973-2563. It receives the audio of each call to that number, the caller's number and the texts Ava answers, and the facts Ava looks up to answer. It records and transcribes each call.
- Twilio carries Remuto's texts and the calls to its number. It receives the phone number, the text or call itself, and the time.
- Resend delivers Remuto's email — a booking confirmation, an enquiry, a rent reminder — and receives the address it is sent to and the message itself.
- Google supplies the street-level picture beside an address on a published page, and receives the property's coordinates for it.
- Shovels supplies the public permit history for a property, and receives an address.
- Apple handles the purchase when you buy credits in the app, on Apple's own terms. Remuto learns that a pack was bought, never how you paid.
- RentCast supplies the rent estimate and the public property record, and receives an address.
- Checkr runs tenant screening when a landlord asks for it with a rental application. The applicant pays $40 through Remuto, refunded if the screening isn't run. The applicant gives Checkr their details on Checkr's own page. Remuto gets one word per check, clear or review, and never the records behind it.
What Remuto never collects
- No tracking, ever. No advertising identifier, no ad network, no analytics package, no third-party pixel. The app will never ask for tracking permission because there is nothing to ask for.
- No Social Security number. Not for a rental application, not anywhere. If Checkr needs it for a screening, the applicant gives it to Checkr on Checkr's own page, and it never passes through Remuto.
- No background-check records. When a screening is run, Checkr holds the report and the landlord reads it on Checkr's site. Remuto gets one word.
- No bank or card details for rent. When a tenant pays rent or a deposit through Remuto, Stripe processes the payment into the landlord's own Stripe account; Remuto records the amount, the date and whether it went through, never the tenant's bank or card details. When a landlord marks a month paid themselves, Remuto records only that mark.
- No card numbers. Payment happens on Stripe's page, not ours.
How long it is kept, and how to have it deleted
A published listing page stays up until you unpublish it. Applications and stay records are kept while they are in use and for as long as either side might need the receipt. Messages, texts and call transcripts are kept for two years after a conversation's last message.
Deleting the app removes everything held on the phone — every listing, photograph and draft. That is most of it, and it cannot be undone.
To remove what the server holds, email remutoapp@gmail.com from the address on the listing, or send the link to the page. A deletion request covers your messages, your texts with Remuto and Ava's call transcripts and recordings, at Remuto and at ElevenLabs. We will confirm within seven days and complete it within thirty. Some records have to be kept longer where the law requires it — a completed payment, for example, is a financial record Stripe and we both have to retain.
Children
Remuto is for adults letting and renting property. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18.
Text messages
If you give Remuto a mobile number — when you contact a listing, book a stay, sign a lease, or set up a landlord or host account — Remuto may text you about that listing, request, stay or tenancy: replies from the other party, booking confirmations and payment links, rent reminders and receipts, lease-signing links. Message frequency varies with your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out and HELP for help, or email remutoapp@gmail.com.
Stay updates. When you book a stay you can tick an optional box, unchecked until you tick it, to get about four texts about that stay: booking confirmed, your Stay Guide is ready, check-in day and checkout, each with a link to your Stay Guide and sent only between 8 AM and 9 PM in the stay's time zone. Remuto keeps the time, the booking and the exact words you agreed to. Reply STOP to turn them off everywhere, START to turn them back on, or use You › Notifications. More at remuto.app/sms.
Mobile numbers and opt-in consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Mobile numbers and text-messaging consent are never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with the carriers and the messaging provider (Twilio) needed to deliver the message, and with ElevenLabs, which runs Ava when she answers a text, and only for those purposes.
Changes, and how to ask
